NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – The New Hanover County Tax Department will debut a new option with its 2014 real estate tax bills. Property owners should expect to receive their 2014 property tax bills next week.

Although property taxes are due on September 1 each year, they can be paid without interest until January 5, 2015. To further assist and encourage penalty-free payments, all property tax bills will include four payment coupons. The coupons will reflect the total amount owed, divided into four equal payments. The coupons indicate a monthly due date September through December.

In addition to the new payment coupons, New Hanover County will continue to offer numerous payment options to assist taxpayers in meeting their tax obligation without incurring additional interest and fees. The New Hanover County Tax Office urges citizens to contact the office upon receipt of their tax bill if they need to make payment arrangements.

After January 5, 2015 taxes become delinquent making options for repayment much less flexible. Once taxes become delinquent, interest is added at the rate of 2 percent for the first month and 3/4 percent per month thereafter.

If you have questions about your bill or would like to make payment arrangements please contact the office at (910) 798-7300 or visit the website www.nhcgov.com.
