Holiday closings for New Hanover County government offices, attractions

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – New Hanover County will close its administrative offices from Wednesday, Dec. 24 through Friday, Dec. 26 in observance of the Christmas holiday. County offices will reopen and resume normal hours of operation on Monday, Dec. 29.

The County offices will close again Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, in observance of New Year’s Day.

New Hanover County Library:
All New Hanover County branch libraries will operate a modified schedule Monday, Dec. 22 and Tuesday, Dec. 23; closing at 6 p.m. and will be closed from Wednesday, Dec. 24 through Friday, Dec. 26.

All libraries will be open Saturday, Dec. 27 and Sunday, Dec. 28, operate a modified schedule Monday, Dec. 29 through Wednesday, Dec 31; closing at 6 p.m. and will be closed Thursday, Jan. 1. For more information about library locations and hours visit www.nhclibrary.org.

New Hanover County Department of Social Services:
All units of the New Hanover County Department of Social Services (DSS) will be closed from Wednesday, Dec. 24 through Friday, Dec. 26, and will also be closed on Jan. 1, 2014, New Year’s Day.  During the holiday closing, residents should report child abuse and neglect or adult abuse and neglect, by calling 911 to reach an on-call social worker.

New Hanover County Landfill:
The New Hanover County Landfill will be open until 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24; and closed Thursday, Dec. 25. The landfill will reopen Friday, Dec. 26 with regular hours of operation and will be open until 2 p.m. Saturday, December 27.

The landfill will be closed Thursday, Jan. 1 and will be open until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3.

New Hanover County Attractions:
Airlie Gardens located at 300 Airlie Road in Wilmington, will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24 and Thursday, Dec. 25 and reopening Friday, Dec. 26. Airlie Gardens will also be closed Thursday, Jan. 1. For more information about Airlie Gardens visit http://www.airliegardens.org or call (910) 798-7700.

The Cape Fear Museum located at 814 Market Street in Wilmington, will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24 and Thursday, Dec. 25. The Museum will reopen Friday, Dec. 26.
