County offices and venues to close at 2 p.m.

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – All New Hanover County offices and venues (County parks, libraries and the Cape Fear Museum) will be closing today at 2 p.m. The New Hanover County Emergency Operations Center remains in limited activation as local officials closely monitor the severe weather with community, state and federal partners.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado WATCH for New Hanover County until 7 p.m. A Tornado Watch is issued to alert the public to the possibility of a tornado developing in our area. At this point, a tornado has not been seen but the conditions are very favorable for tornados to occur.

Weather preparedness information can be found online at ReadyNC.org, or by downloading the ReadyNC mobile application. The ReadyNC app is free and available now in the Apple AppStore and Google Play for Android devices.
