Register of Deeds Tammy Beasley Receives State Appointment by Governor McCrory

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – New Hanover County Register of Deeds Tammy Beasley has been appointed by Governor Pat McCrory to serve as a member of the North Carolina State Historical Records Advisory Board (SHRAB). Beasley’s term is effective September 16, 2016 through October 18, 2018.

“I am so honored to be appointed to the state’s advisory board and have the opportunity to serve citizens in a greater capacity,” said Beasley. “I work hard every day for New Hanover County, and it is humbling to see that my leadership and innovation is being recognized across the state and the nation.”

Beasley’s recent accomplishments as New Hanover County’s Register of Deeds include initiating a ‘Thank a Veteran’ program and a curbside service for handicapped citizens, opening a satellite office for convenience to the community, and modernizing the Register of Deeds office while keeping costs at a minimum.

As a member of the state’s advisory board, Beasley will extend her reach beyond New Hanover County and make a positive impact on North Carolina.

SHRAB is the central advisory board for historical records planning and project assistance in the state of North Carolina. The board is responsible for assuring that the objectives of the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) are implemented in North Carolina.

About New Hanover County’s Register of Deeds
Tammy Beasley was first elected as New Hanover County Register of Deeds in November 2012. Her office is the branch of local government responsible for recording, indexing and storing authentic and official copies of public records, such as birth, marriage, and death certificates, DD214’s and property transfers. As the official custodian of legal records, the Register of Deeds office records over 1,000,000 pages of legal documents, 4,000 marriages, 12,000 deaths and 10,000 births yearly.
