NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – The community is invited to New Hanover County Fire Department Day at the ACCESS of Wilmington’s Miracle Field on Saturday, October 29, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Firefighters from New Hanover County Fire Rescue (NHCFR) and the New Hanover County Firefighter’s Association (NHCFFA) will be volunteering during the Miracle League’s baseball game and providing fire prevention education at the event.
This event will be the culmination of NHCFR’s efforts to raise fire safety awareness and provide smoke alarm education throughout October, which is National Fire Prevention Month. “This provides a great opportunity for New Hanover County Fire Rescue to share in a great event, and to promote a safe, healthy and secure community,” says NHCFR Chief Donnie Hall.
Fire Day takes place at the Miracle Field at Olsen Park, located at 5510 Olsen Park Lane, in Wilmington. Families and children of all ages are encouraged to attend this fun event that will feature baseball, fire trucks, Sparky the Fire Dog, and more.
NHCFR is participating in numerous outreach events during National Fire Prevention Month, including New Hanover County Senior Resource Center’s Home Delivered Meals Program. On October 13, fire personnel and county officials delivered meals and tested smoke alarms for the county’s homebound. Pictures of the day can be viewed here.
