NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – The NC Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) made a statement this week that, at the current GenX levels in the county’s water supply, the general population does not need to stop drinking or using the water. The state’s explanation of their public health position can be viewed here.

As a service to residents, Cape Fear Public Utility Authority (CFPUA) is offering water from a groundwater source at Ogden Park. In addition, CFPUA is working with the City of Wilmington and local churches to set up temporary water distribution sites.

While these distribution sites are available for residents, New Hanover County and health officials want to remind the public that DHHS has confirmed that the public does not need to stop drinking or using the water.
