Kids Music Fest kicks off Summer Reading Club; June 14

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – New Hanover County Public Library kicks off Summer Reading Club 2014 on June 14 with its 1st Annual Kids Music Fest at Kure Beach’s Ocean Front Park and Pavilion. The event is free and fun for families with kids.

Musicians appearing at Kids Music Fest are Mr. Mark, Zach Hanner, Mommie, and the Port City Irish Band. Kids in the Library’s Rap Club will also have a chance to perform.

Lots of activities are planned in addition to the music. Kids can breakdance and play with musical instruments, hula hoops, parachutes, and beach balls. Island Montessori will be making giant bubbles. Face painting (by Fairytales & Dreams by the Sea) and rock star makeover results can be captured at a photo booth. Cape Fear Museum, the Children’s Museum of Wilmington, and the Fort Fisher Aquarium will provide craft and learning activities.  The Kure Beach Fire Department will bring a fire truck, and Memory Lane Comics will hand out free comic books. Don’t forget to sign up for Summer Reading Club at Kids Music Fest, or at any NHC Public Library starting June 13. NHC Library supports New Hanover County’s strategic goals of improving community literacy and preparing students to be successful in a 21st century world by offering incentives and many special events to encourage kids, teens, and adults to enjoy reading during summer vacation.  Summer Reading Club is free for all ages, and is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
