NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – New Hanover County Television has partnered with the University of North Carolina Wilmington to air student-produced documentaries about giving, volunteering, and engagement in the community.
“This partnership provides a new outlet and audience for UNCW’s important community advocacy work,” said New Hanover County Public and Legislative Affairs Director Carey Disney Ricks. “It is our pleasure to work with the university and students in creating a heightened level of awareness in our county,” Ricks added.
Housed at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, Building a Better Wilmington is a campaign aimed at promoting volunteering, inspiring community engagement, and increasing the effectiveness and sustainability of nonprofit organizations in southeastern North Carolina.
“We are excited to partner with NHC and share our films with the community,” said Jeffrey Brudney, the Betty and Dan Cameron Family Distinguished Professor of Innovation in the Nonprofit Sector at UNCW. “These films are an integral part of our Building a Better Wilmington Campaign. We make these films to be seen and used by the university, local nonprofit organizations, and governmental agencies.”
This campaign fosters and publishes research on the nonprofit sector, mentors and trains future nonprofit leaders, works with UNCW students to make and screen films about volunteering and involvement, and forges successful collaborations between UNCW and the nonprofit community.
