Walk your way to Wellness with New Hanover County Parks & Gardens

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – New Hanover County Parks & Gardens is partnering with local healthcare providers to host “Wellness Walks,” a free monthly guided walking program beginning July 11th. The Wellness Walks will take place at 9:00am on the second Saturday of each month at rotating parks around the county. Each walk will begin with a brief talk on a specific health topic by a professional from our community. The guest speakers will then lead participants on a walk around the park’s walking trail. All walks will be at a casual pace and are geared toward beginners of all ages.

July’s walk will take place at Smith Creek Park and will feature Susan Mintz, RN, Diabetic Educator and Kenya Parker, RN, Wise Woman Coordinator /Child Health Enhanced Role Nurse with the New Hanover County Health Department.

Smith Creek Park is located at 633 Shenandoah Street in Wilmington. The paved walking trail is 1.3 miles long and will take approximately 30-45 minutes to walk. The event is free and pre-registration is not required. Participants should meet at 9:00am under the picnic shelter.
