New Hanover County – One-stop absentee voting begins in New Hanover County on Thursday, March 3 and will run through Saturday, March 12. Voters may vote at any of the five locations located around New Hanover County.
The five locations are: the Board of Elections, located at the New Hanover County Government Center at 230 Government Center Drive, Suite 34 (accessible from the sidewalk facing College Road); New Hanover County Senior Resource Center at 222 S. College Road; Cape Fear Community College’s Health Sciences Learning Resource Center at 415 N. 2nd Street; Northeast Regional Library at 1241 Military Cutoff Road; and Carolina Beach Town Hall at 1121 N Lake Park Boulevard. For specific voting times at each individual location, please refer to the New Hanover County Board of Elections Website at www.nhcvote.com.
The 2016 Primary Election One-Stop Absentee Voting period is an opportunity for voters in New Hanover County to present at the polls prior to Election Day on Tuesday, March 15.
Persons who are not registered in a county may register to vote during the one-stop absentee early voting period. This process is called “same-day registration” and is currently permitted due to a preliminary injunction granted under a decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit; this option is the subject of ongoing litigation in federal court. Questions related to same-day registration may be answered at any of the five one-stop absentee locations.
