(New Hanover County)– Helping residents implement healthier lifestyles is one of the major initiatives in New Hanover County. The dedication of the 112 acre Northern Regional Park on Saturday is a big step toward providing citizen access to parks. The park, which is an expansion of the former 50 acre Castle Hayne Park, was funded by the taxpayer supported parks bond in 2006.
The official opening of the new park was held during the multi-state Seaside Classic Soccer Tournament. About four thousand players from three hundred teams from the Carolinas, Georgia and Virginia took part in the competition which provided the backdrop for the dedication ceremony.
You can get a closer look at the park and the dedication ceremony in this video, produced by NHCTV.
