NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – The Chestnut Street entrance to New Hanover County’s Main Public Library will be closed for approximately one month because of construction, beginning Monday, June 27. The lobby entrance on the parking deck side of the building will remain open. Visitors may reach this entrance by coming through the ground level of the parking deck from either Second or Third Street. The Second Street entrance to the parking deck is accessible for handicapped visitors.
A temporary book drop has been placed inside the parking deck, between the deck’s entrances to Second Street, for the convenience of borrowers who wish to return library materials when the building is closed.
“The construction around the Library’s Chestnut Street entrance is meant to correct pavement problems and to tie the entrance into the new Story Park that is under development at the corner of Third and Chestnut Streets,” said Library Director Harry Tuchmayer. “We are sorry for this inconvenience, but want to emphasize that the Main Library is still open for business as usual.”
