NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – On Thursday, August 11, New Hanover County’s Information Technology (IT) Department won first place in the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) 2016 Excellence in Innovation Awards. The award, given in the general government category, recognized the department’s successful implementation of agile project management methods for improving efficiencies.

The county’s centralized IT Department provides services to all county departments, helping to implement technology solutions that increase productivity and streamline processes. In addition to winning the NCACC award, the county’s IT Department won a National Association of Counties (NACo) Achievement Award in July for the same initiative.

“IT’s innovative management system came at no cost to the county and has improved project completion by 40 percent,” says County Manager Chris Coudriet. “This is a direct benefit to both our staff and our citizens, improving our internal operational effectiveness and the customer experience through new technology.”
