NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – On Monday, August 22, County Manager Chris Coudriet will make a formal nomination to the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners for the position of New Hanover County tax administrator. The nominee, Allison Snell, is the county’s current assistant tax administrator, a role she has served in since April 2014.
The recommendation is for a four-year term, effective September 1, 2016 through August 31, 2020. Roger Kelly, who has been the county’s tax administrator since 2008, is set to retire at the end of August.
“Allison has been involved in all aspects of the tax department and has facilitated bringing more efficiencies, improving communications and enhancing collaboration,” says County Manager Chris Coudriet. “Under her leadership, operations of the tax collection process have improved and collection rates have increased to the current collection rate of 99.05%.”
Prior to joining New Hanover County, Snell spent nine and a half years with the Tyrrell County Tax Department, serving as tax administrator for the final five years. Snell is certified in North Carolina as a Tax Collector and a Tax Assessor. She attended Pitt Community College and currently serves as the secretary of the North Carolina Tax Collectors’ Association.
