New Hanover County, NC – The New Hanover County Health Department began giving flu shots to the general public on Monday, October 3. Appointments are available from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and walk-ins are accepted. The flu clinic will operate until Friday, October 28 and is located at 2023 South 17th Street at the New Hanover County Health Department.
The Health Department is able to accommodate anyone with mobility issues by offering the flu vaccine in an automobile, if requested. The clinic is open to all residents and non-residents in New Hanover County and vaccines are available to anyone age 6 months and older. High-dose vaccines are also available for people age 65 years and older. The nasal spray vaccine (FluMist) is not available this year.
The public can call 910-798-6500 to schedule an appointment. In addition, the Health Department can bring the flu clinic to groups of 20 or more people. Churches, civic groups, and businesses interested in having the flu clinic at their location can call 910-798-6529.
Medicare/Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC, United Health Care, Aetna, Cigna, Tricare, Health Choice, Visa/MasterCard (credit or debit), cash, and check are all accepted.
