County offices and facilities will be closed on Friday, January 21, and Saturday, January 22, as the forecast calls for freezing rain, hazardous road conditions & potential power outages.

New Hanover County Parks & Gardens Openings

UPDATE: All New Hanover County Parks & Gardens are open except Blue Clay Bike Park, which is expected to open on Monday, October 17.


NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – All New Hanover County Parks and Gardens have been assessed following Hurricane Matthew and will open on the following schedule:

Opening Monday, October 10 with regular operating hours:

  • Arrowhead Park (Note: the Disc Golf Course is closed and will not open Monday)
  • Monterey Heights Park
  • Hugh MacRae Nature Trail
  • Ogden Park (Note: the large dog park will open at noon)
  • River Road Park
  • Riverside Park
  • Smith Creek Park
  • Veterans Park

Opening Monday, October 10 at noon:

  • Kings Grant Park

Tentative Opening Tuesday, October 11:

  • Hugh MacRae Park

Opening Wednesday, October 12 with regular operating hours:

  • Northern Regional Park (Note: the Disc Golf Course is closed and will not open Wednesday)
  • Snows Cut Park
  • Summer Rest Trail

Tentative Openings Wednesday, October 12:

  • Airlie Gardens
  • Trails End Park

Tentative Openings Thursday, October 13:

  • Parkwood Park

Opening Monday, October 17:

  •  Blue Clay Bike Park
