NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – New Hanover County’s Department of Social Services (DSS) has funds available to assist additional residents with child care subsidies. Individuals on the DSS wait list are currently being served, and more residents are encouraged to apply.

“The Child Care Program ensures that residents can have accessible and affordable childcare,” said Social Services Director Michelle Winstead. “It gives parents the independence to secure and maintain employment or attend school, and be able to provide their children with safe, quality child care.”

Limited funds are available for residents seeking employment, attending school, or needing to increase hours of employment. Services are also provided to support parents of children with developmental needs, protective services, and foster care.

For more information about the child care subsidy, visit the Social Services website or call 910-798-3538.
