Registration continues for Community Emergency Response Team Training (CERT)
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – With the deadline fast approaching, New Hanover County residents can still register for upcoming Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training which begins Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017. Remaining classes will continue on Thursday evenings beginning at 6:30 p.m. for six weeks, with a disaster simulation exercise on the final day of class, Saturday, April 1, 2017. All classes will be conducted at the New Hanover County Emergency Operations Center, 220 Government Center Drive, Wilmington, North Carolina.
CERT training is designed to provide basic training in disaster preparedness, which increases the ability of citizens to survive and assist their family and neighbors until emergency responders or other assistance arrives. Courses include; Emergency Preparedness, Fire and Life Safety, Medical Operations, Light Search and Rescue, CERT Organization, Psychology, and Terrorism.
