NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – New Hanover County’s Building Safety, Engineering, and Planning and Land Use departments launched new webpages on Monday to improve functionality, provide easier navigation and access to information, and – most importantly – improve the customer experience.
Information for these three departments had previously been housed on one webpage. With the rebranding of the Building Safety and Planning and Land Use departments in 2016, separate webpages were created to make each department’s information easier to find and ensure better efficiency.
“One of the board’s strategic priorities has been to improve public awareness of the county’s services, to create a more informed and better-served community,” said County Manager Chris Coudriet. “Creating unique webpages for our development services departments will help to ensure the public has more streamlined and obvious access to important information and processes, making it easier to do business with the county.”
On the Planning and Land Use webpage, the public has easier access to the award-winning development activity page that includes a map and details of development activity in the unincorporated areas of the county, as well as the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) webpage that provides useful information, status updates, and invites public participation. On the Building Safety webpage, users will be able to learn more about the department, easily access permit applications and requirements, and know who to contact directly for specific services or questions. And on the Engineering webpage, the public will be able to learn about the department’s important services, like shore protection and drainage assistance, and view a comprehensive list of Frequently Asked Questions.
