New Hanover County, NC – At today’s New Hanover County Board of Commissioners meeting, the county’s Strategy and Budget Department was recognized for receiving its 27th consecutive Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for fiscal year beginning July 1, 2017.

This award represents a significant achievement for New Hanover County. In order to receive this distinction, a government unit must publish a budget document that meets program criteria in the following four categories: as a policy document, as a financial plan, as an operations guide, and as a communications device.

“New Hanover County is committed to transparency and financial stewardship, and this award highlights those priorities,” said New Hanover County Manager Chris Coudriet. “This is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting, and I am grateful for the Board of Commissioners’ leadership and the dedication of our county staff to make this possible.”
