NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – New Hanover County’s Department of Social Services has State Adult Day Care funding available to help individuals who are 18 and older and require care while a primary caregiver is at work or away from the home.
“This funding assists caregivers, and provides opportunities for adults to have greater independence and access to services that will enhance their wellbeing,” said DSS Director Michelle Winstead.
Adult Day Care funding, provided through DSS, can be used to give adults access to an organized program of services during the day in a community group setting, provide transportation to and from activities that maintain socialization and community engagement, and provide personal care, medication and supervision assistance.
The Adult Day Care programs in New Hanover County are licensed by the NC Division of Aging and Adult Services and monitored by DSS.
