NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – New Hanover County Emergency Management will activate the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), which includes the Joint Information Center (JIC) on Tuesday at noon in anticipation of Hurricane Florence. The JIC will coordinate the release of information concerning the storm and response activities, and is a collaboration between local and regional emergency management partner organizations.
Beginning at noon, the public information hotline will be established to field calls from residents and visitors of New Hanover County. The hotline is available 24 hours a day and may be reached at (910) 798-6800, with Spanish speakers available. Please use 911 only for true emergencies, and this hotline for all questions.
A media briefing will be held today, Tuesday, September 11, at 12:45 to provide information about storm preparations and protective action decisions for our community. The briefing will be held at the New Hanover County Government Center, 230 Government Center Drive, at the Lucie Harrell Conference Room.
New Hanover County will broadcast the briefing live on the county’s Facebook page.
