UPDATE – November 21 at 5:15 p.m.

The fiber network has been repaired to the county’s Senior Resource Center, Public Health and Social Services buildings. The phone lines, internet and computer systems are now operational. We appreciate the community’s patience as we worked to get this repaired as quickly as possible.

New Hanover County, NC – Due to an accident on College Road today, the county’s fiber network was damaged and communications have been impacted at the county’s Senior Resource Center, Public Health and Social Services buildings.

The county has been working diligently with a repair contractor, and the repairs are anticipated to be complete by midday on Wednesday, November 21. This outage affects the phone, internet, and computer systems in all three buildings.

Each agency’s main phone number will continue to be operational, staffed off site, for the public to call. However, individual employee phone lines are not operational at this time.

Customers visiting the impacted locations on Wednesday morning can expect a slight delay in service due to the manual, paper-based system that will have to be used.

The public will be notified once the outage is restored and communications are back up and operational.
