NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – Applications are open for New Hanover County’s non-county agency funding for the 2019-2020 fiscal year. The county provides funds to eligible nonprofits and community organizations whose work helps to further the county’s strategic priorities and serve residents. Agencies can apply for funding on the county’s Finance webpage under the budget tab, now through January 31, 2019.
Non-profit applications are evaluated by the Non-County Agency Funding Committee, which recommends agencies and funding amounts to the Board of Commissioners. Applications submitted by economic development organizations are reviewed by the county manager and then recommended to the Board of Commissioners.
The non-county agency funding process is a function of New Hanover County’s Finance Department, which now oversees the county’s budget. The Finance website was recently revamped to make it easier to access and navigate. The improved usability of the site will help agencies as they complete this year’s application.
Non-county agency funding is distributed on an annual basis through an established process that ensures transparency, accountability, and consistency in the funding of non-county agencies.
