NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – New Hanover County Commissioners are working hard to advocate for the county’s local legislative goals for 2019-2020. A full scope of these priorities, as well as the state-wide legislative goals determined by all 100 North Carolina counties, can be viewed in County Manager Chris Coudriet’s recent Manager’s Message.
“Our Commissioners are working together as a board to move some important issues forward with our state’s legislature – issues that have the power to affect our citizens,” notes Coudriet. “The importance of the board’s advocacy work cannot be overstated.”
Local legislative goals have been discussed with New Hanover County’s state legislators, and the state-wide priorities will be presented to all members of the General Assembly, the Governor, and other executive leaders.
Most recently, Chairman Jonathan Barfield, Jr. and Commissioner Rob Zapple represented the board at the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) Legislative Goals Conference to ensure the legislative goals for the Cape Fear region were prioritized.
