NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – The New Hanover County Senior Resource Center (SRC) is conducting a survey for adults age 55 and older, to understand what the SRC is doing well and how the activities and services can be improved. The survey can be completed online at bit.ly/SRCsurv from now through March 26. There are also paper surveys available for participants to complete at the SRC.
“This survey will help us better serve our current participants by understanding why they come to the SRC and what activities or services they feel are missing,” said SRC Director Amber Smith. “We want to also hear from older adults in our community who don’t regularly come to the center, and understand how we can best meet their needs and encourage their participation.”
As part of its effort to reach additional members of the community, the SRC has also launched a satellite site to serve older adults in the northern area of New Hanover County. The satellite site, located at Castle Hayne Baptist Church, 4544 Parmele Road, offers a variety of nutrition and wellness programs for older adults.
Programs include Tai Chi, Geri-Fit, the ALOHA library program, a walking club, and craft sessions, as well as a nutrition program that provides healthy lunches to seniors 60 and older.
“More than 100 residents have participated in wellness and quality-of-life programs at the satellite site since we opened the doors on February 11,” said Smith. “We have received great feedback and are excited to grow this satellite site to serve even more older adult residents in northern New Hanover County.”
More information about the SRC’s Castle Hayne satellite site, including a schedule of activities, can be found on the SRC website. The satellite site is open Monday through Wednesday, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
