Commission on African American History, Heritage & Culture to meet October 10

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – Notice is hereby given that the New Hanover County Commission on African American History, Heritage & Culture will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at 4:30 p.m. in the Human Resources Training Room A of the New Hanover County Government Center, 230 Government Center Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401. This is the first meeting of the newly-established commission, and all meetings will be open to the public.

The commission’s purpose is to research, investigate, discover, preserve, collect, catalog and celebrate African American culture, history, historical areas, sites and landmarks of focus in the county through collaboration with numerous organizations and individuals that have historical knowledge and expertise. The commission will educate the community, as well as establish programs and initiatives that preserve and protect New Hanover County’s African American history, heritage, arts and culture.
