NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – The New Hanover County and New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC) Partnership Advisory Group (PAG) held its second meeting on November 13, where the 21 members learned about the transformation of the healthcare industry and how it is impacting local healthcare.
The session featured presentations showing trends that can lead to higher-quality care, lower costs and improved health, but pose substantial risk to healthcare organizations that aren’t able to withstand cuts to reimbursements while changing their business models. A full summary of the meeting can be viewed at NHRMCfuture.com.
At its second meeting, the PAG established a meeting calendar through April, with meetings occurring the first and third Thursdays of each month starting in December (see a full list below). Each meeting will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the New Hanover County Government Center, 230 Government Center Drive, in the Andre Mallete Training Room. The meetings are open to the public, but do not include a public comment period.
Members of the community can share feedback and questions with the PAG members at any time by emailing PAGcomments@nhcgov.com.
Upcoming meeting dates of the PAG are as follows (each meeting is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.):
An additional four to six months of meeting dates may be needed, and will be scheduled as the work of the group continues.
The PAG is charged with researching, reviewing, and guiding the process for evaluating NHRMC’s future in keeping with our community’s best interests. Over the coming months, they will explore a host of opportunities for the hospital and the future of healthcare in our community – from remaining standalone to selling, with many options in between.
PAG presentations and approved minutes, frequently asked questions, and more can be found at NHRMCfuture.org. The community is also encouraged to sign up for updates throughout this process at NHRMCfuture.org/stay-informed.
