NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – Community members interested in learning ways they can prepare to stay safe in the face of potential disasters have an opportunity to do so through Lunch and Learn events in 2022.
Starting January 4, staff with New Hanover County Emergency Management will hold free, monthly ReadyNHC seminars that are open to the public, focused on various ways to be ready for things like winter weather, hurricanes, flooding, extreme heat and more. Community members are encouraged to bring their lunch with them to the events, all of which will start at 11:30 a.m.
“Being a coastal community, residents in New Hanover County face a variety of potential threats related to storms coming off the ocean and other everyday issues like fire and heat,” said Emergency Management Assistant Director Anna McRay. “These Lunch and Learn events are a great way to remind people of things they can do now to be ready in case something does happen. We’ll start with winter weather and work our way toward summer heat – preparing you all along the way for anything that may come.”
The lunch and learn sessions for the first half of the year are as follows:
Additional Lunch and Learn sessions for August-December will be announced later in 2022.
