NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – Out of an abundance of caution for community safety, the planning committee has made the difficult decision to postpone the 2022 TreeFest event scheduled for January 14-15.
The TreeFest committee is working to announce a new date for the rescheduled event. Please check back at nhcgov.com or sign up to receive news releases from New Hanover County for updates on when the rescheduled event will take place.
TreeFest began in 1997 after hurricanes Bertha and Fran decimated tree populations in the area. Now in it’s 24th year, TreeFest has given away over 100,000 tree seedlings to area residents. The NC Forest Service Nursey in Goldsboro, NC grew the plants for this year’s event. The voluntary planning committee and many sponsors, including the NC Forest Service, NC Cooperative Extension, New Hanover Soil and Water Conservation District, UNCW Department of Environmental Sciences, Wilmington Earth Day Alliance, Alliance for Cape Fear Trees, New Hanover County Parks and Gardens and Independence Mall, make TreeFest possible, and by generous donations from its patrons.
