NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – At its November 14, 2022 meeting, the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution declaring certain personal property surplus to the county’s operations, allowing for the sale of these items to non-profit organizations before the remaining items are sold through online public auction. A complete list of the surplus items up for sale is available here.
From November 16-22, non-profit organizations will have an opportunity to inspect and purchase items No. 385-460 prior to them being available to the general public. Non-profit organizations interested in viewing these items should contact Julia LaBombard at 910-798-4333 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Any remaining property from that list will then be offered for sale beginning Thursday, December 1, 2022, using GOVDEALS, a company who provides online auction services to governmental entities.
A second public notice will be sent regarding the opportunity to inspect and purchase items No. 461-486, which are from the current Government Center building, once dates for their sale have been established. Non-profits will have the first opportunity for those items, followed by a public sale.
Registration is required for bidding. All items are sold “as is” and all payments must be made online through GOVDEALS. Acceptable methods of payment are credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), PayPal and wire transfer. Please review the terms and conditions prior to bidding.
